Chapter Thirty Two.

Chris.

Almost immediately after the door swung open, a thin woman, who looked to be in her late forties, flew from behind it’s frame and pulled Gene and Carrie into an immediate hug. Gene smiled hard and Carrie laughed from within her arms, each of them being locked in tightly. She was small, but seemingly strong. Brown hair flowing down her back, and a hardly-aged complexion. They laughed for a moment, accepting the kiss on both of their cheeks.

“I missed you both so much! My babies are both back.” The woman cried into Gene’s shoulder. When they separated, her arms flung back around Carrie, big tears flooding her cheeks. When she opened her eyes, they revealed this nearly lime green tint, glowing with the golden tint in her hair.

“My babies are safe,” She repeated, her white teeth shining. “Thank you, Lord.”

Gene smiled, tears threatening to fall from her ducts, her hands clasped together under her chin. As soon as Carrie was released, her face was gleaming with tears too.

“Look at how beautiful you both are! And tan!” They both smiled, and giggled. She took their hands in hers, and swung their arms back in forth. Carrie smiled and looked away for a moment, catching Mijo’s grin.

“Oh, Annalisa, this is our Texas family,” Carrie began. “Mijo, Hennessey, Valerie, Peter, Geo, Chris,” Carrie gave her a wink, her eyes averting between Gene and I. Annalisa released their hands and came towards the group, pulling us each into an individual hug. She went around the circle, introducing herself and soon giving out mother-like compliments. When she pulled me into her arms, she grinned and gave me an odd wink, looking back at Gene, and then at me like Carrie had. When I let her go, her eyes averted to behind me, narrowing in confusion. She gasped, then pushed through us lightly. The full group turned, and looked at Veronica who was slowly coming up the stairs.

“My God, Veronica,” She began in a gasp, choking on the new and upcoming tears, and soon rushing to her. Veronica dropped her bags and opened her arms, crying for the first time since I’d met her. She gripped her arms around Annalisa’s neck, and pulled her in as tight as possible. When they pulled away, their hands dwindled in each others.

“Look at how you’ve grown, Veronica. Look at how beautiful you are. You were always strong, and now you’ve raised yourself into something beautiful.” A wide smile crossed V’s lips, and she wiped away the tears on her own face.

A slamming sound came from down the path, along with a groan from Eli who was standing the midst of all of her bags, scattered across the ground. A low swear, that caused Annalisa to shake her head, escaped from Eli’s lips.

“Elanor, I see you haven’t changed much.” She joked, quickly sauntering over to her and helping her with the bags before even Geo could reach her side. Geo followed after, grinning at Eli from behind Annalisa’s back. While they chatted and gathered her things, I looked at Gene with a wide grin. She had cleared her face of tears, and made a goofy face to return my mocking expression.

As soon I was ready to speak, Annalisa hustled past, handing me another suitcase on her way up the steps.

“Come in, my familia! I’ve got a dinner for all of you cooking, and you all can go get settled once the boys get your bags upstairs. It’s just us for now, your father will be back later on. Who knows where your mother and Lexa are.”

Gene chuckled darkly, and pulled her satchel back over her shoulder.

We each nodded, and followed her into the home.

———————

And I thought my house was big.

Gene had not been arrogant, nor extravagant in any way.

A mansion, was a different story. This home, was a town within itself.

Everything looked too expensive to touch, so I kept my hands at my sides.

Never had I been insecure, but right now I was questioning that.

“Chris?” Gene whispered, grasping my hand tightly and pulling me further down the corridor. The group had apparently split a while before, each following Annalisa to their rooms.

“You zoned on me.”

I blinked, and let a small smile cross my lips. “I’m good. Where am I sleeping?”

She made a left, a right, and pulled me through another sliding door. “You tired?”

“No, but I might be when we get through this tour. This house is gigantic.”

“Tell me about it. I think it’s unnecessary.”

For a moment, the thought of her father’s unexplained win crossed my mind, but I kept quiet and nodded as she spoke. She tossed her free hand back and forth, pointing between paintings and different doors, naming rooms with certain knobs as bathroom, and certain colored doors as bedrooms.

It was like a hotel, to be short.

“And this, is my room.” She mumbled, standing before the closed door.

“We going in?” I asked sarcastically, a smirk on my lips. Gene frowned, and elbowed my sighed gently.

“Shut up. This hasn’t happened before.”

“What hasn’t?”

“A male being up here,” She blushed, and looked away from me. “You’re the first.”

I chuckled, then stopped immediately when she began to pout. Leaning down to her height, she let out a shaky, sweet-smelling breath against my lips before I kissed her nose, then pecked her lips.

“I don’t judge, G. Open the door.” I murmured, my lips bouncing against hers. She smiled and bit into her own lip, twisting the gold knob and pressing the door before pulling the two of us in in a quick stumble.

I could’ve sworn that my eyes doubled over, my lip hanging low.

Her whole room was stained with black paint, chalk drawings covering almost each open space. On the ceiling was the only color, a large mural of two young girls smiling.

Her and Carrie, I guessed.

“Dang, Gene. Why didn’t you say anything?”

She sighed, and opened her suitcase near the door. “Same reason why you don’t go around singing everything. It’s something I keep to myself,” I nodded, understanding her completely, and watched her cross the room. She opened the blinds, revealing the huge windows and letting a burst of light into the room. The walls glowed with pure talent, and Gene leaned back against the window sill.

“You like it, I see.” She murmured.

“Hell yea, this is amazing. I thought I was good, but this is different. What, you don’t think it’s good?” I turned to her in disbelief.

She shrugged, and leaned up from the window. “Not really, you’re just as good.” I smiled and bit into my lip, crossing the room to her. Glancing back, I made sure the door was closed before I pulled her from her feet, lifting her by her waist and tossing her onto the large bed that was embedded into the floor. She smiled and laughed, snaking her arms around me as soon as I landed on top of her.

“I love you, you know that?” I murmured, pressing my lips into her neck and kissing the skin there.

She moaned lightly, “Now I do, yes.”

I took her moan as an opportunity to unwrap her arms from my neck, and lifted my body up to pull her shirt up. She protested weakly, and attempted to push me off while laughing.

“Chris! Annalisa has good hearing! Not now, not now!” She squealed. I ignored her, and pushed myself down until my face met her stomach. I massaged her hips lightly, and slowly slid my hips to the button of her jeans. It unsnapped, and when her jeans were halfway down, the door opened.

“No baby making, no baby making!” Carrie’s voice erupted from under the threshold, and Mijo’s deep laugh boomed from behind. When I looked up from her waist, the whole group was standing before us with wide grins.

“Ya’ll doin’ the dirty?” Peter asked, poking his head between Geo and Eli, his arms flung across their shoulders. I smirked, and looked down at Gene, who once again had her face in her hands in embarrassment. I pulled her pants back up to her waist, and put my forehead to her bare stomach as she squirmed.

“This room’s sick, G. I didn’t know you had this in you.” Geo commemorated. Eli was the first to look up, gasping at the picture. Everyone else’s eyes followed, and Carrie was the first to laugh.

“Is that us, Gene?” She asked, grinning wide.

“Of course it is. I drew Veronica too, in my sketchbook.” Gene explained, buttoning her pants and pushing me from her. I laid back in a slight frustration, flipping over to my stomach as soon as she stood.

The hard on in my jeans was no joke.

“I’d like to see that.” Veronica murmured, turning from the group and rubbing her fingers across one of the chalk drawings.

The group sat around and chatted for a while, until Annalisa called us down for the dinner that erupted in scent as soon as our names were called.

At that moment, I slight forgot my sexual tension and thought about food, rushing past the rest of the group and happily rushing to find the staircase. Gene’s laugh erupted from behind me, along with insults about me being a “greedy nigga”.

Unfortunately, I was the first to run into a tall, dark-skinned man, a woman and girl behind him at the edge of the staircase.

“Chris,” Annalisa began. “I’d like you to meet Gene’s father, Clarence, her mother, and Lexa.”
